WHAT IS THE LISTENING PROGRAM®?

The Listening Program® is a Music-Based Auditory Stimulation method that is used to train the auditory skills needed to effectively listen, learn, and communicate. It consists of an extensive series of high-quality audio CDs that integrate specially produced acoustic music, primarily classical, with innovative sound processing techniques. It is designed to train or re-train the ear and brain to process sound without distortion.

Possible symptoms of auditory problems are:

  • Difficulty following directions
  • Articulation problems
  • Language problems
  • Poor attention
  • Poor coordination and balance
  • Reading, spelling or writing difficulties
  • Difficulty processing or retaining information
  • Over sensitive to sound
  • Easily distracted by sound
  • Need constant stimulation

Who can benefit from The Listening Program ®?

Anyone can benefit from improved listening function. The Listening Program® is used by people of all ages, starting as young as two.

Whilst TLP is a substantial stand-alone sound stimulation experience, I support The Listening Program® with neurodevelopmental movements and other therapies to help promote a deeper and more rapid change.

As listening skills and the auditory system improve, you may observe changes in a number of different areas. These include:

  • Better articulation and vocal quality
  • Better ability to follow directions
  • Improved social interaction
  • Improved language skills
  • Reduced sound sensitivity
  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Increased attention
  • Improved auditory comprehension
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved mood

The programme can also help to raise confidence and self esteem among those pupils who find their learning difficulty a frustration and school burdensome. It can help in some cases to lift depression.
